About the swim group

The Winter Ocean and Sea Swimming Association – WOSSA. It is a cult. It is not a cult.

Meets on Sundays. 8.15am for 8.30am photo and splash entry. Swimmers, Dippers and dunkers welcome. Also very welcome, a sense of fun and play. (NB if swimming at Long Beach it is now routine to swim to the pontoon and “bomb” off it). Communal singing welcome afterwards, while re-dressing.

Coffee/chat almost always guaranteed – as pre-arranged.

Non-Daylight Saving:

Meet at Grange Beach, nb this is a rocky ‘beach’. It is difficult finding a flat spot to get out of your warm clothes and re-cloth post-swim without going head over turkey. But is a sheltered spot, it’s if often calmer in the water at this location when it is rough elsewhere.

Daylight Saving: (aka “The Splitters” Group).

Meet at Long Beach, Sandy Bay – 8.15am for 8.30am spash and dash to the pontoon and mandatory bomb into the water. The Splitters now meet here all year around, as it’s easy to get in and out of your clothes without injury.
